NEVADA ASSOCIATION OF LAND SURVEYOR'S OFFICER AND DIRECTOR OATH OF SERVICE

OVERVIEW

The following is the traditional pledge and oath of service that officers and directors take in order to serve our membership. This version, which closely conforms to the oath taken by all 2000 officers, was drafted by one of our Past Presidents, Ms. Rita Lumos, PLS. This information is posted in an effort to promote pre-office awareness of the magnitude of the following words to those about to serve. The oath is also intended to provide as a notice to the membership in their expectation of the service of they should come to expect from the candidates they ponder to support by yearly vote. This should further be a guide of conduct during tenure, as well serve to elevate the idea of the required commitment to this organization throughout.

The following ideals and values as represented by virtue of the commitment within this oath should not be entered into lightly. Each phrase should be viewed as binding upon the service and privileges extended to the officers and directors on behalf of the membership. Failure to do so may cause a division of the very organization for which we are united. A division results in a reduction of dedicated members. Recall that if we have no membership, we have no need for the role of the officers, directors and the executive board. As such, as officers we should take no liberties beyond the provisions as written within the current ratified version of our Constitution and By-laws (Article 6.03 NCB, Article 7.03 SCB).

OATH OF OFFICE

I, (State Your Name), do solemnly swear to advocate and sustain the constitution and the by-laws of the (Insert Chapter Affiliation) Chapter, of the Nevada Association of Land Surveyors; to uphold the ideals and responsibilities of the survey profession; to have the vision to lead the Association; to have the energy, and to devote the time to continue its work and its proud tradition. In recognition of your affirmation and dedication, I now officially install you as the (Insert Current Year) Officers and Directors of the (Insert Chapter Affiliation) Chapter of the Nevada Association of Land Surveyors.
